Russian titanium specialist to expand production capacities

The Russian metal specialist VSMPO-AVISMA, one of the world’s leading aerospace titanium manufacturers, is planning to expand its production capacities. The company has signed an agreement with the administration of the Titanium Valley special economic zone in the settlement of Verkhnyaya Salda for the construction of a new processing facility by 2016. 

The new facility will double the production capacity of VSMPO-AVISMA’s joint venture with Boeing, Ural Boeing Manufacturing (UBM), which manufactures titanium components for Boeing commercial aircraft. 
VSMPO-AVISMA has extended its contract with Boeing by another 10 years and will be targeting “high added value products for the purpose of supporting the growing Boeing production rates, including for the new Boeing 787-9, 787-10 and 777X models which contain more structural titanium”. 

More than 70% of ­VSMPO-AVISMA’s products are intended for the aerospace industry. Its customers also include Airbus, Snecma, Rolls-Royce, UTAS, Mes­sier-Bugatti-Dowty, and Pratt& Whitney, as well as a number of Russian enterprises.
