Motor Sich brings MSB-2 helicopter mock-up to Moscow

Ukrainian engine maker Motor Sich is premiering a full-size mock-up of the MSB-2 light utility twin helicopter here at HeliRussia 2013. The MSB-2 is a new derivative of the Mil Mi-2 design; Motor Sich in 2011 received a formal approval as the developer of the new type.
In lieu of the Mi-2’s original GTD-350 powerplants, the MSB-2 will have more powerful Motor Sich AI-450M turboshaft engines for improved performance. It will also feature new external fuel tanks, allowing for greater internal payloads, a more ergonomic passenger cabin, and a longer range of 750 km. There will also be an advanced avionics suite. At 4-ton MTOW, the helicopter will seat eight people. It will have a maximum speed of 210 km/h and a cruise speed of 200 km/h.
Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported in April that the MSB-2 was undergoing tests in the run-up to production entry. Certification is expected to be completed by year-end.
