Sheremetyevo unveils new helipad
The new helipad, Sheremetyevo A, is inaugurated at Sheremetyevo airport next to Terminal A on September 10. This helipad, the first in Russia located at the territory of an international airport, is intended for certified rotorcraft carriers under an agreement with Avia Group Handling that operates the new site. The helipad is fit to land any mid-class type, Mi-8MTV included. Its capacity builds up to 10 to 15 flights a day.
"To take off a helipad, no additional clearance from the airport is needed, except for poor visibility," says Mikhail Vasilenko, CEO of Sheremetyevo. Safety clearance for airline carriers to operate at the new site would be issued in compliance to the standard procedure adopted at Sheremetyevo and supplemented with Avia Group’s special requirements for carriers, CEO of Avia Group Mikhail Semyonov explains.
