Helipad for Sheremetyevo

Work is underway to build a helipad outside Terminal A at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport. The 9,500-square-meter site got cleared and fenced, and workers’ portacabins installed, earlier this spring. The certification paperwork will be dealt with as the construction works progress. The new helipad should be commissioned in June. It will handle all medium-class helicopter types, including the medium Mil Mi-8MTV.
Sheremetyevo’s subsidiary Avia Group had the helipad design documentation approved in January 2013. Nizhny Novgorod-based company Skif-NN was selected as the prime contractor for the project through a tender.
In a separate development, a hangar facility for fixed- and rotary-wing business aircraft will be built to an Atlas Group design on 8,400 square meters of land near Terminal A at Sheremetyevo. The facility will house a maintenance shop, an ATC operation, and offices of the bizav handling services provider Avia Group Handling.
