Irkut Sends 500th landing gear bay to Airbus

Irkut Corporation, Airbus and Aerolia have celebrated the handover of the 500th Russian-built nose landing gear bay door for the Airbus A320 family. Marking the handover of the 500th A320 nose landing gear bay were (from left to right) Chris Buckley, Airbus executive vice-president sales Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific; Oleg Demchenko, president, Irkut Corporation; and Raphael Duflos, Aerolia chief procurement officer.
Airbus and Irkut established a partnership in 2004 to supply significant parts for the A320 including keel beams, flap tracks and the gear bay. Deliveries to Airbus began in 2007 . In 2009 Aerolia was established as the supplier of the main forward fuselage section of the A320 and it now manages the contract between Irkut and Airbus.
