Ivchenko Progress assembles first D-136-2 engines

Ukrainian engine specialist Ivchenko Progress has brought to HeliRussia 2014 a mock-up of its D-136-2 helicopter engine, which was first demonstrated in Russia at last year’s exhibition. The company says it is assembling the first two examples of the powerplant.
The modified version of the D-136 baseline is intended for the upgraded Mil Mi-26T2 transport helicopter. It has a maximum take-off power of 11,500 hp up to an OAT of +40ºC, and an emergency power rating of 12,200 hp. The Mi-26T2, the latest version of the Mi-26 heavy helicopter, is under development at Russian Helicopters. It has a glass cockpit with five liquid-crystal MFDs, two PS-7 digital control panels, a set of backup electromechanical instruments, and day/night visual systems. The navigation suite comprises the NAVSTAR/GLONASS-compatible A-737 GNSS system, an INS, and a Doppler velocity log. Russian Helicopters says it has received the first Mi-26T2 export order to unspecified customer and the deliveries should start in 2015.
